[ she's getting better at tracking him, having spent a night where he was dead asleep and she too restless for slumber mapping out the various aspects of his presence in the force and committing them to memory. but when she winds the corner within this seedy corellian dive, the han she finds is not the one she was looking for.

leia stands wide eyed, staring openly at the younger, ganglier smuggler standing with some redhead at his side and chewbacca nowhere in sight. she knew that han already existed in this time, but he was supposed to be nine not--

[ the man she sees, the boy, is definitely han. whatever she senses of him in the force is still him, only less beaten down and packed in. he and bria have just arrived, anxious but hopeful, going over their ambitious plans for the future.

bria notices leia first, and once it's pointed out to han that there's a woman staring at him he tenses. she doesn't look like a bounty hunter, or like someone that would take up with shrike, but that doesn't mean she isn't. maybe she's some undercover security or something...

from behind her, a wave of the other han, the squashed one, crashes into her and starts tugging her arm toward the door. ]

In what someone else might've called a stroke of luck, Artoo was able to secure a ship for Luke and Kar (and the little droid, of course) to escape the Taspan system before the whole thing could fall to pieces. Luke didn't bother with that assumption; like Ben, he's starting to believe that there's no such thing as luck. He'd been wearily grateful for the opportunity to rescue Kar and escape, and had left it at that.

Kar's left with Nick and Aeona now, all intent on hunting down Cronal for good, and Luke's finally reboarded the Falcon with the rest of his friends. He heard out a solid two minutes of grateful chatter from Threepio, accepted a hug from Chewie, spoke quietly with Leia for a few moments, shared hellos with Han, and then, finally, found a spare space -- room would be overselling it -- with a couch he could pitch himself onto, face-first. He doesn't bother turning the lights on, but he won't be falling asleep any time soon either.

Han needs the sleep. When he finally does collapse, which he predicts will happen in a few hours or whenever Chewie decides to lock him in his bunk. Now, though, there's still the fading thrum of adrenaline and hunger pangs to keep him conscious. Or maybe that last part was guilt, some small thread of it like that terrible black crystal hair Luke kept pulling out of himself, creeping around his stomach.

"Hey," is all the warning Luke gets before Han unceremoniously sits on his feet, then stands to move them and sit back down again with them resting against his arm. "You're still awake, right? I've got food."

He hoped Luke was still awake. He'd feel even worse if he woke the poor kid up again after a day like this. Days. Maybe longer, it certainly felt like they'd been going back and forth from darkness to light for a month's worth of days, Han couldn't even tell anymore, but he hoped it warranted a long vacation for all of them.

He comes aboard the skiff in search of Anakin, but finds his wife instead. Seeing as how the senator has yet to meet the man whose captured her daughter's heart (though she's heard plenty about him from her husband), she doesn't quite know what to make a of a disheveled Corellian running up the ramp of her ship.

"Can I help you?"

Han has spent not an insignificant amount of time figuring out what he'd do when he finally met Padmé. Making an undignified startled sound as he stops short on the ramp to this ship is not at all the impression he'd hoped to make.

"Ah-- No. Just..." He wipes his suddenly clammy hands on his pants. "Looking for General Skywalker."

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away— For some reason, Obi-Wan Kenobi didn't come to this particular bar while looking for ship to take him and his shiny new Skywalker apprentice to Alderaan. The person at the bar irritating the hell out of the patrons and bartender alike is instead a tall blonde woman who could easily pass as Human if not for the cybernetic implants visible throughout the parts of her body that weren't concealed beneath her coat and clothes.

Someone gets a little too riled; someone always does— But there's no need to intervene.

The hand of the wrist that lands on her shoulder is broken with an audible snap, the woman issuing a cool, "You will keep your hands to yourself."

His companion doesn't heed her words and soon finds himself unconscious at her feet. One single press of her fingers to a tender spot between the man's neck and shoulder and he's out like a light.

She steps over his body, brushing past Chewbacca as she makes her way to a table near Han's.

No one follows her. Nobody dares.

Probably why he's the only one openly watching her and then, in a show of idiocy, raises his glass in her direction as the cantina band starts up again.

All of time and space, everything that ever happened and ever will. Sometimes it's glamorous -- hello, space Florida -- and sometimes it's happening on a ship that looks more like a UFO than any other she's seen yet in what seems to be an abandoned hangar.

"Hello? Anybody home?"

She approaches the ship curiously, taking it in. It's beat-up, sure, but there's something about it that she can't help liking.

He's on top, working on something (because it's always something), so it takes a minute before his head pops over the side so he can get a look at who's interrupting him.

Being not entirely cured of his ginger-bias, though, he frowns immediately.

"What do you want?"

It's not a club they found on Yelp, which Caitlin feels should be a point in their favor. Someplace Sara knew about that straddles the delicate line between fun loud and obnoxious loud, with a good bartender and fairly priced drinks.

Caitlin returns to the table with another round of drinks.

"This was a really great idea. Have I mentioned that enough yet?"

There's nothing wrong with the camp. It's perfectly fine. Everyone seems very nice, and you get to sleep in dorm rooms instead of cabins, and it is very much billed as the kind of camp that girls who get gum in their hair go to instead of the girls who put gum in others' hair. Dad had been very encouraging, and some part of Caitlin is very excited to be here.

If only there were less strangers.

Some are already forming little groups, because they always do. The kids that know each other already, or are here for the same course lineup. Only Caitlin doesn't know anyone, and she doesn't know how to tell which kids here are her kids, the medical kids and the chemistry kids. Or how to approach them if she did know how to tell them apart.

Wondering about all of this, observing it, is probably why she's standing in a Very Tall Boy's Way as he nearly runs her over and drops almost all of his things.

"Oh! Sorry!"

The meeting was supposed to be secure, but Simon supposes he can't be surprised about this anymore. A patrol showed up and everyone scattered amid gunfire and orders, leaving Simon and River inexplicably in Karrde's care.

Which is complicated by the fact that it feels less like they're here until they can meet back up with Serenity and more like they're being held captive. River, at least, seems eerily calm about the situation, but that doesn't really help his anxiety.

("We'll be fine. Eggs in a basket," she says as she pats his knee, and all he can think about is how easily eggs break.)

The demeanor of the woman standing at the doorway to the small crew cabin they've been set aside in isn't encouraging, either.

"You're bleeding," he notes. Helpfully! "If you need to have that seen to, go ahead. There aren't many places we can go while we're out here."

Caitlin avoids the handshake.

Granted, Barry had given her a warning of sorts. Back when he first returned from Kara's universe and she asked more questions than was probably strictly polite, the handshake issue had come up. So, she avoids that. This could be a nice visit, completely void of crushed hands, if it weren't for the fact that Kara is here when she shouldn't be and they still aren't sure how to get her back.

Other things are going on, too, because they always are. It leaves the group splintered: Barry and Cisco working on metahuman problem A, Harry doing whatever it is he's decided to do for problem B, and Caitlin and Kara addressing the problem of caloric intake.

Not Caitlin's first choice, but making Supergirl (and wow, that's a lot for a hero name) sit around and answer medical questions in this situation seemed a little cruel. Besides, there's a lot to be said for observational analysis.

"There's more to Central City than coffee and donuts," said as they make their way into Jitters, "but it's a good place to start."

She doesn't take off the mask.

Barry Allen takes no such precautions. He introduces himself by name once they're at STAR Labs, cheerfully pulling off his hood and introducing her to his friends. The name is only fuzzily familiar; she's maybe read a case report attached to it once. She doesn't recognize him, wouldn't expect him to recognize her, but Dinah doesn't like taking risks.

What are they going to do? Tell the local authorities that Dinah Drake moonlights as a vigilante? Who's going to care, let alone believe them? And Central City, unlike Star City, likes its masks. They have the Flash to thank for that.

Not that he looks too impressive now, getting his ass chewed out by Dr. Snow -- which he deserves. He ducks his head and offers half-hearted apologies and then waves a hand at Dinah in a clear attempt to get free of the heat. (Some hero.)

She shrugs. "You should see the other guy. Who, by the way, nearly ran your boy over with a Hummer. You're welcome."

Barry is used to the yelling, which probably says a lot about what goes on behind his particular brand of hero-ing. The gesture at their new masked friend is enough to get him off the hook with a quick squinted glare at his back as he retreats to help Cisco with re-calibrating the suit's communication systems.

As jazzed as Cisco has been to meet Black Canary, he's decidedly unenthusiastic about what her power does to audio equipment.

"Thanks for that," a much less yell-y tone as she advances to assess the accumulation of wounds. "There isn't a lot we can do from here, but I can take care of this before you go."

Generous, cautious, as she prods gently at an unfortunate patch of road rash. "What should I call you in the meantime?"

Not asking her to remove the mask or risk the secret identity thing at all. It would be a little hypocritical after yelling at Barry about being more careful with his a few seconds ago.

Bellamy had never expected them to be able to keep the list secret forever, and he didn't want to, but he expected the secret to last longer than a hunting trip with Stephens. He comes back and the entire camp is in uproar over the list, over whether or not they're on it, over what makes him think he deserves a spot so damn much -- and he knows how much worse it'd be if Jaha hadn't interceded.

Finally, he takes a break from the crowd. They have meat to take to Niylah so she can prepare it for them, supplies to put back up; he sends Stephens on the former and himself for the latter. The stock room is empty, at least, quiet, and he's able to cool off by methodically putting everything in its place.

He's alone, until he isn't.

Kane had sent her away.

He had removed her from his security detail, had called her murderous, said she wasn't a warrior. And then, he had sent her away. She had been dismissed for doing her part to keep the peace because he didn't like the sight of blood on his hands, as if Kane was innocent.

Octavia had been in a bad mood coming into camp, and it only worsened during Monty's announcement, audible even outside the gates. She doesn't remember what number she was, though she is fairly sure it was one of the first. She remembers Bellamy's was one of the last. Someone blissfully unaware helpfully lets her know where her brother is as soon as she's inside Arkadia's walls.

"What the hell did you think you were doing?"

Her voice is pitched even lower than usual when she sees Bellamy in the stock room, hands in white-knuckled fists at her sides.

Annabeth is pretty sure her luck can't get any worse. And from a demigod? That's saying a lot.

She's faced all kinds of monsters, nearly died more times than she can count, fought a war, lost her boyfriend, found her boyfriend, and taken off for a quest to save the world (again), and -- tumbled into another reality. She's pretty sure this is Hera's fault. She doesn't know how, yet, but there's no one else who has out for her quite as much as Her Royal Annoyance, the Queen of Heaven herself.

"If you expect me to follow you into that cave without a good reason? You've got another thing coming."

Annabeth's no coward, but she's never had an experience with a cave that didn't end in monsters. She wouldn't mind blowing off a little steam, to be honest, but that's not her top priority right now. Getting home is.

Octavia, frankly, has no idea what the floating hell is going on.

Even with the death of the vegetation and the acid rain, she does not get lost in these woods. She knows her way back to Arkadia and Polis, but a mile out from staying true to her word and taking Ilian home she doesn't know where she is anymore. The vegetation isn't dead or wilting from radiation, there are the sounds of animals and insects that, last she knew, had died off at the first signs of the coming radiation.

"Look," she says, annoyed as she points up with her free hand as the other holds tight on Helios' reigns. "See those clouds? Last time it rained, it was acid. You want to die, fine, but I'm going inside."

The whole forest is alive around them, which points to the rain being rain again, but she doesn't trust it. Not when she found some blonde girl wandering around about as lost as she is and absolutely no help in figuring out what's going on.

Getting to Octavia isn't easy.

Skaikru was taken out of the bunker by force; they might've been able to avoid a slaughter by opening the doors, but the Grounders aren't feeling too charitable about the Sky People making themselves at home during the conclave. 100 beds per clan means exactly 100, and while it's harsh it's fair. No peoples have to die out because of Praimfaya. They will all get the chance to rebuild once the planet's habitable.

Assuming they all make it that long. But they have to deal with each problem as it comes, and right now? Choosing Skaikru's survivors and saving Raven take priority.

Bellamy has to bang on the doors for a full minute before any guards deign to open, glaring hard when they do. "No Skaikru inside until you decide," one says, and Bellamy puts on a scowl to match. He tells them he has to talk to Octavia, points out that she's his sister, and has to keep himself from trying to bodily shove past them. Tensions are high, and the last thing anyone needs is for him to risk inciting a fight.

(They're Trikru. He knows enough to distinguish some of the clans now, and one reacts to his name with a look that tells Bellamy he had a brother, or a sister, or a parent, or a child in Trikru's lost army. Bellamy gets dragged to Indra with some more force than strictly necessary, and he can't quite blame them.)

He makes it, at least, sharing a look with Indra before she directs him to where Octavia sits, momentarily alone.

"Your welcoming committee could use some work," he says by way of hello, sitting next to her.

She's tense. She's exhausted, but she can't relax. Since the conclave everything has been either a narrowly avoided disaster or discussions she feels are far over her head about what to do once Skaikru is done with their culling.

What to do for the next five years.

It's all overwhelming, like she's back to that first day on the ground being drug underwater by something bigger than she would ever be, but hearing Bellamy has the strange effect of both soothing her nerves and putting her on alert.

"What happened?"

Not that she isn't glad to see him or anything. Octavia had told her guards before that he was supposed to have free passage as long as the doors were clear of other Skaikru that might try to sneak past. (Another thing she has to worry about, and it kind of turns her stomach if she thinks about it for too long.) It's just that her first thought for why he'd come instead of doing his own leader duties is that something went wrong.

It's three in the morning, probably; Bellamy stopped checking the time obsessively after Octavia's fever broke about an hour ago, and after he gave her the last dose of Tylenol for the night. She's sleeping, thank God, which means it's time for him to send Gina home, clean things up, get to sleep himself.

Instead, he heads for the living room, where the TV's still on and blaring some stupid infomercial. The lights are all off, mostly, and there are boxes of medicine and random stuff strewn everywhere -- including a not inconsiderable number of oranges. He flops onto the couch, half-slumped over, and doesn't move when he feels her sit down nearby.

"You should go home," he says after a minute.

Somewhere just past three, but Gina isn't going to hold it against him.

"Like hell," is her response as she sinks into the couch next to him, one hand reaching out to move up and down his back as she surveys the damage.

Bellamy had called that afternoon in a panic about fevers and cough drops, which means Gina rushed over as soon as her shift ended. Even given the call, she was a little surprised at the level of disarray the Blake apartment had descended into. Which means, obviously, now she can't leave until at least the oranges are wrangled into a single container. Or, if they're lucky, redistributed.

Besides, she hates driving at night.

"When's the last time you slept? Or ate something other than an orange?"

Snow isn't something she ever dealt with much at home. Environmentally unstable, something to be avoided and worked around.

River has been knee deep in it for most of the day, trudging outside the walls of Winterfell. She had trudged through it and more to get here, taken from her home and dropped on some nonsense continent on an even more nonsense planet. Except not dropped in the right spot at the right time or with the right tools. Just the instruction that if she helped someone become a king she'd get to go back.

This was supposed to be it. Finally getting here, seeing the King in the North (and why wasn't being that much of a King enough for her to get home??), only to be told to wait outside the gates because she'd mentioned Melisandre's name just like she'd been told to by the idiots that sent her on her way.

She's wearing what feels heavy enough to be a hundred layers, but she's still too cold-numb to focus on anything beyond trying to rub the feeling back into her fingers. It makes it hard to get a good sense of what's on the other side of the gate -- it feels like family and deep, deep roots of trees she doesn't know the name of; like hundreds of men who have forgotten how to shiver; like stone-heavy inevitability.

It isn't until there's a small commotion with the guards at the gate that she picks up on the fire and knows, this is who they meant.

"Are you who I need to talk to?" River tries her best to sound diplomatic, but she isn't sure anything she says will ever be trusted when she has a strange accent that doesn't even seem to be foreign so much as, well... Alien. On top of the fact that she knows, somewhere in the back of her mind behind the cold, that she probably ought to address him by title or respectfully or something, but -- "Because I'd like to be inside now."

The train is the most luxurious thing Percy's ever seen, so of course he hates it.

It's hard not to pace around the cars; he doesn't do well with sitting still at the best of times, and this definitely isn't it. Something about rushing to his probable death at hundreds of miles per hour makes it hard to relax. Plus, it's hard not to feel caged in, particularly because...well, he is. He and his fellow tribute, a girl who'd wanted some time alone (not that he can blame her), have to make it to the Capitol and wait till they're in front of all the cameras before they're allowed to die. Where's the fun otherwise?

So he roams, makes it to the dining car with its bowls of fruits and snacks sitting out on the table, and tries to decide if hunger or pride is going to win out.

Jessica never saw the point of pride. It never seemed practical to her in a world where people send kids to die for entertainment and the survivors have to shuffle the next batch on to a slaughter.

Which means she's in the dining car not long after Percy, brushing past him and grabbing the nearest bottle of liquor.

She takes a swig and looks him over. Not for the first time ever, but the first time actually caring about assessing him. How soon will this one die?

"Eat if you're hungry, kid. Just don't throw up on me if you get queasy."

It's slim pickings for decent doctors on Westerley, and slimmer since Pawter's death. But Killjoys gonna killjoy, which in this case means they've still got warrants to fill, and, if you're Dutch, wars to fight. That also means, inevitably, that she's going to get banged up along the way.

The first time they meet Simon Tam was, actually, years ago. Level 3 warrant, what was supposed to be a simple job for Dutch and Johnny, easy payout. It would've been easy, if not for some ex-Company creeps, a dose of illegal human experimentation, and a very nasty situation for the Tams. It wasn't easy, but they got things sorted -- completed their warrant, saw the Tams to safety, and parted on decent enough terms. Those terms got better the next time they ran into each other, a year or two after that, when Johnny had a nasty leg gash that needed real medical expertise.

Today, it's Dutch stopping in for the good doctor's help. There's blood soaking into her sleeve (hers), and a bruise blossoming along her temple, but she still offers a smile.

"Knock knock."

The practice is meager compared to what he's used to. Just a few rooms to make up a medical suite, barely enough supplies, and a steady stream of patients that appreciate a lack of questions and a man who can keep his mouth shut. Simon had managed to acquire it nearly a year ago, thanks to Dutch's intervention (however badly that may have started), and it's been... Okay.

It isn't exactly what Simon would call an ideal situation. Not that ideal situations were anything he had access to anymore, but he is still painfully aware of what this one lacks. The pros of it all are easy: River is safe, he can work doing what he's always wanted to do, he is not (usually) getting shot at.

The cons aren't discussed in polite company.

When Dutch comes in, he's checking his inventory of supplies. And, miracle of miracles, starts to smile (genuine, because it's someone he considers tentatively as a good friend; because River will be delighted to know she's around), and then frowns deeply when he sees the blood.

"Can we assume," and he is motioning already for her to come in and sit down, "that we know the answer is 'Injured,' or do we have to go through with the whole joke?"

Luke has meditated on the Force in hyperspace before. In fact, he'd received some of his first lessons on relying on the Force in a hold of the Falcon's, hurtling towards Alderaan. Hyerspace and realspace can't normally interact, but that's meaningless to the Force. It's everywhere, in everything, always.

Point is, nothing strange has ever come of it before.

Until now. He'd jerked back to awareness as something shook the entire ship, fallen, and -- woken up on a planet. On a planet, next to a bustling street crowded with ground-based crafts, and just outside the door of a building. If his mind weren't buzzing with shock and the sudden onslaught of millions of minds, he might've noticed that someone's coming through that door -- and he's standing in their way.

She's going out. Fresh air, or whatever, since it is still daylight out. It's not unusual for her to bump into people on the street. It's New York, and pedestrians are a hazard unto themselves.

What is unusual is the person she bumps into this time, with an initial and automatically muttered, "Maybe move a little, asshole."

Except there's a vague and, frankly, a little unsettling sensation of recognition. The face, the weird outfit. Jess doesn't place it immediately, only that it must be something nerdy or that she missed Comic-Con going on again. Except this kid looks exactly like a dude from a 70's movie.

Absolutely impossible for that particular recognition to be true, though. Right? Right. It's only, like, 11am, too, and she's definitely not that drunk either.

She looks him over a little, gauging the probabilities of every option that may exist to explain what the fuck it is she's seeing.

"What are you doing outside my building anyway? You look like you're late to a convention."

River is quickly coming to the conclusion that horse riding is the worst.

Almost the worst.

The worst is, of course, walking through the snow.

So, second worst.

Nothing is still, every step is a new jostle, and being set up here in the saddle behind a man in full plate armor means those jostles come with a dull clang more often than not. She would prefer not. The horse, in fact, would prefer they were both off of it entirely.

"The horse is tired," she tells his back, doing her best to keep upright and separate instead of following gravity's last jostle and her own exhaustion urging her to lean forward.
