"Now?"
Despite the complaint, he stirs, lifting his face from his hands and moving as though to stand.

He's already walking toward the door, grabbing a a coat of Luke's on the way (is Bakura cold? he can't remember) and waiting with a small amount of patience at the door. Let Geptun keep nosing around, now that Han knows it isn't official he doesn't seem to care as much. The more worrying issue is the kid in front of him.
no subject
"We're not going back to Hoth, are we?" he asks, following along to the door.
no subject
"Not unless you think it'll help."
And they're out and away, headed toward the docks. "I've gotta take care of something. If you're not at the Falcon when I get there, I'm sending Chewie after you."
no subject
"And what do you think is going to help?"
Where could they possibly be going in such a hurry?
no subject
"C'mon, kid, don't you trust me?"
The point is less where right now. Bakura might work, but maybe Kashyyyk to see Chewbacca's family. Anywhere away from the madness on Coruscant or the obligations to the New Republic.
"Just get to the Falcon. I won't be long."
no subject
"Fine."
And in a rare display of perfect obedience, actually heads in the direction of the Falcon.
no subject
"Ready to go, kid?"
He better be, because Han is headed straight for the pilot's chair. The sooner they're off the ground the harder it'll be for Luke to change his mind.
no subject
He's not saying no, for the record, but as Han gets the Falcon warmed up and off the ground with all the hurry as if they were leaving a battlefield and not just Coruscant -- well, he can't really help wondering.
no subject
"I'd consider it."
Or at least make a show of considering it. At this point he's certainly not slowing down.
no subject
"You'd consider it? That's nice of you."

Chewie continues to regard them with amusement, growling a comment that manages to be sympathetic to the both of them.

A direction Han follows begrudgingly but without actual complaint, like an oddly patient toddler. Then he sighs as he punches coordinates into the navigation computer and prepares to start the hyperdrive.
"Look, you needed to get away from all that, and you can't tell me you would've gone yourself. So just try to enjoy the ride, okay?"

Not very appropriate to the last of the Jedi, or a galaxy-known Jedi, or any sort of Jedi at all; he sounds a lot more like a farm boy from a backwater planet right at that moment, asking if Han's rusty old bucket can actually outrun Imperials or make jumps to hyperspace in time after all. Swap out all the black for something more Tatooine, and he'd probably almost look the part too.

The resemblance to the Old Luke in the moment is reassuring. There's no way any of them can go back to being what they'd been before all of this, but they're allowed to have moments of regression. Han likes to think it makes the rest of what they have to do easier.
"Not sure where after that, but I owe Chewbacca some time with the family, and you could use some fresh air." And getting carried around in a quulaar.
no subject
"How long's it been since you've been back, Chewie?"
no subject
As far as Han's concerned, Kashyyyk is where Luke can decompress without exploding. Plus, there's plenty of nature around, so he can do whatever Jedi meditation he likes so long as he's not in a Wookiee's way.
no subject
"Tell me about your family," he asks Chewie.
no subject
"Has to be, what, six years since you and Malla had that wedding?" The nodding and grumbled Wookiee laughter needs no translation, and Han actually smiles. "Which makes Lumpawarrump about five."
no subject
He gets about a minute of quiet awe before the quulaar topic comes up, at least, and then Han gets more than a minute of a good laugh at his expense. Luke gets the distinct feeling that this is payback.
But it is, admittedly, hard to stay mad. Malla introduces them to hot chocolate and other exotic sweets, and Chewie's clearly thrilled to be back home. The Shyriiwook isn't always easy to follow, but the hugging and Han's translations don't leave a lot to doubt. He tries to follow Han's instructions and put things about the Republic out of his mind, but it's only so long before he can resist asking:
"Have you heard from Leia?"
no subject
For his part, Han hasn't taken any of his own advice. When he's not helping Luke around the little village or translating, he's making regular comm contact with Leia and a few other contacts in this sector. With Leia, half the conversations have involved poorly received attempts to get her to join them on this little retreat. The rest has been to keep an eye on things, Han's paranoia never quite shutting off completely, and to make sure nothing that is happening ends up happening too close.
Probably why the look he gives Luke for the question is more incredulous than it might have been otherwise.
"Yeah, plenty." He eyes Luke for a second before realizing something. "And don't go doing that... Thing, either. It's the middle of the night where she is on Coruscant and she doesn't need you waking her up."
no subject
He's tempted to point out that if he was going to do that, he wouldn't have to bother with asking Han about her anyway. And that he knows Leia is asleep, even without calculating the time difference. Then again, Han's never been too clear on the limitations of the Force, and he hasn't been interested in learning; that'd probably fall on deaf ears.
"I just wanted to know how my sister's doing."
Stressing the word pointedly in case, you know, Han forgot or anything.
no subject
"Your sister," and it is a small miracle he doesn't roll his eyes, "is doing fine. Except for the fact that she won't just come with us."
Why yes, Han is annoyed that Leia isn't joining them in jumping on the 'Run Away From Your Problems' vacation tour.
no subject
She always does, of course, but it can't really help to have Han, Chewie, and himself gone. To say nothing of the fastest ship the galaxy's probably ever seen. Leia's too responsible to ever just abandon her duties for the New Republic, even if it is for a much-deserved vacation with her best friends.
"Maybe we should go back and check on her."
